Model Opening Trim Pieces

Architectural

You can model trim volumes, see 3D Modeling and Modeling Trims Using the 3D Modeler.

When modeling the volume, please note that the origin of the model will become the reference point of the trim. The origin must be located on the back surface of the trim, looking in from outside the wall. The dimensions of the volume are defined as variable. You should use certain predefined labels as the dimension labels - see Trim Parameters.

After modeling the trim, you can add it to the component library as follows:

  1. Select System | Libraries | Libraries. The Component Libraries database view opens.
  2. Select OPENING_TRIM as the library in the Component Libraries database view.
  3. Click the Edit Library button. The Trim library database view is displayed.
  4. Add a row to the database: right-click to open the context-sensitive menu and select Add Row Before or Add Row After. You can also copy the active row by selecting Copy Row.
  5. On the General tab of the database view, fill in the Description, Code, Model, Type and Manufacturer fields. The description is used to select the trim using the Vertex Browser. Select one of the following as the model:
    • TDIV - Dividing trim
    • TOTH - Other trim
    • TSID - Side trim
    • TSIL - Sill trim
    • TTOP - Top trim
Select the type 304 (Trim) from the list.
  6. On the Files tab, fill in the 3D Accurate and 3D Coarse fields. The accurate and coarse model of the trim can be the same file. If the model has already been saved in the ../custom/complibs/opening_trim directory, type the name of the file in the text field. Alternatively, you can select the model and save it as follows:
    1. Click the 3D Accurate button.
    2. Select Pick file from window and save it to library in the dialog box.
    3. Select the model window by moving the cursor to the working area in the window and clicking with the left mouse button to display the Windows Save As dialog box. The default file type is Vertex 3D Model. Select ../custom/complibs/opening_trim as the directory.
  7. On the Parameters tab, type default values for the variable trim dimensions. Type the labels and values of the dimensions in the Additional parameters field. Separate the parameters from each other using the vertical bar character, for example:

    LENGTH=1190|DEPTH=25|WIDTH=125|OVL_SILL=100|OVL_TOP=0|DX=-20

  8. Confirm by clicking OK.

Note

  • System tab is only available if you are a system administrator.
  • The program will save the changes made in a user-specific database. If the database is not found in the Custom folder, it is first copied from the System folder.
