Open a View Drawing from a Sheet
You can open an elevation, section or perspective view on a drawing sheet derived from the model of a building for editing in a separate 2D window. You can edit the opened view drawing with the general drawing functions.
The view is opened in a drafting mode. In this mode, you cannot edit the existing geometry of the view but you can add dimensions and lines, for example. You can later update changes made in the building model to the view drawing while still keeping the added elements. You can switch the drafting mode to editing mode where you can make any changes in the view, for example delete lines. The changes will be lost next time you update the changes made in the model to the view drawing.
- Do either of the following:
- Select the function from the ribbon:
- First, open a drawing sheet.
- Select Output | Drawings | Open View.
- Select the view to be opened.
- Select the function in the project's document browser:
- Open the branch Architectural documents / Sheets.
- Move the cursor on a drawing sheet.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
- Select Open View Drawing from Sheet. The drawing sheet is opened.
- Select the view to be opened.
- Select the function from the ribbon:
- Change the editing mode, if necessary. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu and select Select View Drawing Editing Mode.
- Edit the geometry.
- Close the window and save the changes by selecting Yes in the message box.
Note:
- Views on a sheet are reference drawings that you can also open with the function Edit a Reference Drawing.
- You can add height data to a view opened from an elevation drawing by using the function Add a Height Symbol.
