Swap Building Component Library

You can swap a window, door or any other building component you have added to the building by selecting a matching component from another manufacturer’s library. The matching component is searched from the new library on the basis of a change key. The program searches a component with the same change key as the original component from the library. If the change key has not been defined, the program searches a component from the library on the basis of the original component’s parameters, for example width and height.

If only one suitable option is found from the new library, the program selects it automatically. If there are several options matching the search criteria in the library, you can select the most suitable one.

If the size of the original component and the new component is not the same, the last used reference point of the original component is selected as a fixed point which defines the location of the new component. Alternatively, you can select any point of the original component as the fixed point, see Setting a Fixed Point.

Swap the building component's library as follows:

  1. Select Building Components > Advanced > Swap Library.
  2. When you are swapping the library of a window or door, you can limit the type of openings that will be selected by selecting an exterior door, interior door or window as the basic opening type. Select the basic type from the auxiliary menu.
    • Exterior doors
    • Interior doors
    • Windows
  3. Select a component. Select several components of the same basic type by holding down the Ctrl key.
  4. Select Confirm.
  5. Select the new component library from a list.
  6. If only one suitable option is found from the new library, the program selects it automatically. If there are several options matching the search criteria in the library, select the most suitable one from a list.

Note

  • The change keys are defined in the component library. For example, the change keys for windows are defined in the window library in the field Library change key. Editing the component libraries is the system administrator’s task.
  • If the change key has not been defined, the program searches a component from the new library on the basis of the original component’s parameters. The search parameters have been defined in the BDSX keyword group with the keyword macro_lib_change_params. For example, the search parameters of opening components can be defined as follows:

    macro_lib_change_params= TYPE|ROW:20|ROH:20|FRAME_THICK:10

    When a numeric parameter is used, a search tolerance is also defined, for example for the width of an opening ROW:20. This means, that an opening whose width is the width of the original opening ±20 mm is searched from the new component library.

  • Swapping a component's library can also be a building option, for example swapping all windows of the building to another manufacturer’s windows. See Setting Up Component Library Swapping Options.
