New Building Dialog Box

Define the properties of a new building in the dialog box.

Building use
Select one of the following:
  • Building - A building for designing a building model.
  • Building group - A building for designing a building group. You can later add the building group to any building model. When you select building group as the building use, the building's saving location is automatically BLDG_GROUPS.

    Building Group Models

When you create a smart model, the Smart model is selected, and other options are not available.
Smart Model
When you create a shared model, the Shared model is selected, and other options are not available.
Shared Model
Building id
Enter a label for the new building, with an up to 16 character-long alphanumeric string. Some special characters are allowed in the label. In the label, the following characters are allowed:
  • letters: a-z, A-Z
  • numbers from 0-9
  • special characters: underscore (_)
Building id, when DesignStream is used
When the DesignStream system is used, and you have logged into the system, you can retrieve a label for a new building from the DesignStream system.

Name
You can type a descriptive name for the building in the text field. The name is not obligatory.
Store in
Select the building folder saving location from the list. The program will populate the list with all ms_volume entries in the ../user/SETUP file that contain a sub folder named "projects” in their directory path. The default saving location is defined in the ../user/SETUP file under the keyword project_ms. The keyword value should be an ms_volume definition.
When you are creating a new building group, the saving location is automatically BLDG_GROUPS.
When you are creating a new building template, select TEMPLATE as the saving location (the ../shared/template directory). You can then select the building as the basis for a new building from the template list, if the Template radio button is selected in the New Building dialog box.
When using Vertex Sync, select VERTEXSYNC as storage location.
Based on
A building can be based on a template building, a building in the local archive or a building in the DesignStream system. All folders, databases and files are copied from the selected base building to the new building.
  • Template - The building will be based on a template building. Select the building from the list or by clicking Browse. The template buildings are customer-specific.

    Setting the Default Template Building

  • Local building - The building will be based on a previously created building in the local archive. Select the building from the list or by clicking Browse.
  • DesignStream - You can select this option, if the DesignStream Interface add-on option is available to you. The building will be based on a previously created building in the DesignStream system. Select the building by clicking Browse.
Update Layer Scheme
Changes may have been done to the layer scheme defined in the system settings, which have not been updated to the building on which the new building will be based on. By selecting Update Layer Scheme, you can reload the entire layer scheme from the system settings to the new building: layer names, visibility of layers and layer groups. In this case, the changes made to the settings of the layer scheme, for example new layer groups, will be updated to all drawings of the new building.
Following drawing files will not be updated:
  • Files in the building’s macros folder.
  • Files in the building-specific component library.
  • Files in the building-specific detail archive.
When you select Based on: Template, the selection will be saved. When you select Based on: Local project, the check box will always be cleared by default.

Get project data card from
If you are using a separate customer and order database, you can copy the project data card information from the system by clicking the Select button. Implementing this function requires customer fitting.
Note:
  • You can also create a new building based on an existing building by saving the building under a new name. In this case, only the fields Building id, Name and Store in are to be filled out in the dialog box.
