Add IO-Point

Define IO-points to symbol in symbol editor. IO-points are for creating connections, adding labels, locating symbols etc.

To each IO-point type you can add additional data depending on the type, that affect the symbol properties. In insertion of an IO-point, the point is added to graphics.

The default attributes of the points you can define with a function Edit IO-Point.

Add IO-Point

  1. Select tab, Add IO-Points group, Add Insertion IO-Point.
    • Insertion points are special when defining a symbol. You can align a symbol precisely to a drawing with the insertion points. The first insertion point is a default, when you add the symbol to a drawing. During the adding, you can switch the insertion point with additional functions.

    • Select tab, Add IO-Points group, Add Device Label IO-Point.

Device Label IO-Point is needed, if the symbol is used for drawing an electrical connection. In the data of Device Label IO-Point, you can define a default value to a symbol's Device Label.

Define the data of a Device Label IO-Point and common default attributes to the list. When you insert the symbol to a drawing, the attributes of a Device Label IO-Point are added to common default attributes. The default attributes of the points you can define with a function Edit IO-Point.

    • Select tab, Add IO-Points group, Add Connection IO-Point.

Connection IO-Points are for demonstrating a device, to which the connections are made. A name is given to a connection point with a contact label point associated to it.

Connection and contact label points are always a pair in a symbol. It is possible to edit their location and data individually, but insertion is always done via connection point. Adding of connection point adds automatically a contact code point besides the connection point.

A special feature of a point can be defined in the additional data of a connection point. For example, if a symbol is used automatically within some special application.

Define the data of a Connection IO-Point and common default attributes to the list for a specific connection point.

When you insert the symbol to a drawing, the attributes of a Connection IO-Point are added to common default attributes. The default attributes of the points you can define with a function Edit IO-Point.

A special value of a point can be defined in the additional data of a contact label point.

    • Select tab, Add IO-Points group, Add Text IO-Point.

You can give associative text labels to a symbol with the text points.

You can define a default label for a text point in it's additional data. Text points are also special in contact schemas. There are example definitions in the additional data of IO-point.

    • Select tab, Add IO-Points group, Add Macro IO-Point.

You can locate symbols relatively to another with the macro points in a layout drawing for example. Usually the symbol can be located to a macro point of a symbol, that is already located.

    • Select tab, Add IO-Points group, Add Line IO-Point.

Line IO-Point is needed, if you want to add special points for lines (special applications) in the symbol.

    • Select tab, Add IO-Points group, Add Dimension IO-Point.

Dimension IO-Point is needed, if you want to add special points for dimensions (special applications) in the symbol.

  2. Select the location of the point.

The program marks the point according to its point type. The program numbers the points.

Note specifically the numbers of connection and contact label points, so that the pair stays together.
