Rotate a Sketch

This function can be used to rotate the entire sketch around a point selected from the sketch. Rotating a sketch is possible if the geometric constraints of the sketch allow rotation. When the sketch is rotated, the constraint manager will attempt to solve the geometric constraints of the sketch.

  1. Select a point from the sketch to act as the center point around which you will rotate the sketch.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Rotate Sketch.
  3. Select a second point from the sketch to be used to rotate the sketch around the selected center point.
  4. Move the mouse and the sketch will rotate if its geometric constraints allow rotation.
  5. Select a new position for the sketch.
Note:
  • Rotating the sketch is allowed if you delete geometric constraints preventing rotation from the sketch, for example the parallel with the axes of the sketching coordinate system constraint.
