Guide Curve

  1. Open the part model in the working window. Browse - Archives
  2. On the tab, in the Sketch group, click To horizontal (XY) plane.
  3. On the tab, in the Lines group, select the line type, and draw the guide curve.
  4. Select Confirm.
  5. Select Guide Curve.
  6. Click OK.

Define the sketch as guide curve. You can later add cross sections to the guide curve, after which you can use the guide curve and cross section to create the Sweep and Loft functions. Sketch the shape of the guide curve in the sketching mode.

Springs and threads are modeled by sweeping the cross section along a spiraling guide curve. Model the spiral on a cylindrical or a conical face.

The polyline forming the guide curve must be continuous, and the lines and arcs tangential.

Note:
  • You can also edit the guide curve sketch by selecting the sketch, after then a line and the context-sensitive function Edit Sketch, or selecting the context-sensitive function Edit in the feature tree.
  • If the guide curve is formed from the very short lines, it can prevent the feature, for example the loft or the spiral, modeling for the reasons of computational reasons. Usually this can be fixed by making the guide curve simpler. You can draw the lines of a same type forming a polyline as a continuous line.
