Add a Panel in a Floor or Roof
Framer
This function can be used to generate the floor or roof panels to the structure layer to which you have added panel breaks. The layers of the floor or roof, their materials and framing tools have been selected when the structure was added. Different layers of the structure have geometry in the model. You can also include layers above or below the layer in which the panel breaks have been added to the panel.
- Select a structure and a layer, if necessary.
- Do either of the following:
- Select Plane Structure | Panel | Generate Panels.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu, and select Generate Panels.
- Select the number of layers by using a function in the auxiliary menu.
- Select the panels to be built by clicking the edge lines of the panels or the temporary label "Panel". You can select all panels by pressing Ctrl+A.
- Select Confirm.
If the selected structure has no panel breaks, you will be prompted: Add one panel into one area? If you want to add the panel, select Yes. If you select No, you can reselect the panels you want to create.
- Select numbering, part numbering, etc., in the dialog box.
- Confirm by clicking OK.
The programs creates the panels. If you selected Generate framing (default) in the panel properties, the program adds parts to all the frame layers included in the panels. If you selected Generate sheathing in the panel properties, the program adds sheets to all the sheathing layers included in the panels. You selected the edge details when you added the panel breaks.
The origin point of the framing determines the direction of the framing. You can edit the framing by using the Floor and Roof Framings functions.
The program will add the 3D geometry of the parts in the framing model, which is usually FRAMING.vxm
- The panel labels are marked in the drawing of the drawing-model pair. An asterisk (*) added after the label indicates that no panel drawing has been created of the panel. When you create the panel drawing, the asterisk is removed from the label. When you edit a panel, the label is always marked with an asterisk to indicate change. When you update the panel drawing, the asterisk will be removed from the label.
- You can also select Modeling | Panel | Floor > Generate Panels, and click the structure.
- You can use the framing functions to edit the frame of the panel. For example, you can change the direction and spacing of the framing by using the function Edit Framing Fields. After editing, update the framing by regenerating the parts.
- You can add joint components to the panel by using the Connection Details functions.
