Add a Notch

Draw a notch in a corner formed by two straight lines. The notch is created at the intersection of the selected lines in accordance with the specified dimensions.

The order in which the lines are clicked affects the positioning of the notch. Before confirming the notch settings, you can easily interchange the notch dimensions using the dialog box functions.

  1. Select Drafting | Line Tools | Explode Concatenated Line > Add Notch.
  2. Select two straight lines.
  3. Define the notch properties in a dialog box. Notch Data
  4. Select OK.
Note:
  • Edit the notch dimensions. Edit Notch
  • You can delete a notch by selecting the lines and then selecting the Delete function, or by pressing the Delete key. Restore the corner by trimming the lines. Trimming Lines
  • If the 2D Constraint Manager is enabled, dimension constraints and coincident constraints are connected to the line forming the notch.
  • You can edit a notch using dimension constraints. Double-click a dimension constraint in the drawing, and edit the dimension value in the Text Edit field. Note that the Drives Geometry dimension property is selected in the dialog box.
