Sketch Line Properties (3D)

You can define the line properties in plane sketch and in the 3D sketch. When you change the line properties in the sketch, the properties of the corresponding line also change in the model. Changes made to the properties of model lines remain even if the model geometry is modified later.

  1. Select a line.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Properties.
  3. Edit the line properties using the selections in the dialog box.
  4. You can also stretch the dialog box in the vertical direction in order to see all the geometric constraints in the list of constraints.
  5. Click OK.

In OpenGL shading, the edges of the faces are drawn using the same properties as before, even if the line properties were changed.

Dialog Box Options

Style
Sets a style for an element. The lines in a sketch will be drawn as shape lines.
  • The construction lines and guide curve will be drawn as dashed lines in the sketch, and the rotation axis as a dotted line. Only the construction line is displayed in the sketching mode.
  • The guide line is modeled as a guide curve.
  • The rotation axis is modeled as a guide curve. It will not be displayed as a feature in the part's feature tree. It belongs to the feature based on the sketch. You can use a guide curve formed in this way, for example, when relocating a part (library feature).
  • A center line of a pipe.
Layer, Line Width, Line Type, Scale, Color
For some Vertex applications, it must be possible to define the line properties in a certain way.
The editable properties depend on the selected elements. If the selected elements have different properties each other, the field is cleared. If you leave the field empty, the elements keep their different properties. If you select a new property in the field, it will affect to all selected elements.
Element Properties
Copy
Click the button to select a line in the sketch and have its properties copied to the line selected for editing.
Fixed
Defines line fixing in the sketch for the position it is in when the line properties are selected for editing. You can release a fixed line by leaving this check box empty. When geometric constraints are solved, the fixed line retains its position.
You must fix the line point separately. Fix a Line or a Point of a Line
Frozen
Defines the spline as a frozen line, if the check box is selected. You cannot edit the form of a frozen spline.
Constraints
The geometric constraints defined in a sketch will be displayed as a list. Unsolved constraints are highlighted in red.
Edit the value of the dimension constraint, its formula, or add a variable in the formula field by first selecting the constraint from the list. Click the Delete button to delete the selected constraint. Click the Change side button to change side of a Distance, Angle or Tangential constraint.
Apply
Click the button to refresh the changes you made in the dialog box in the sketch and to solve the geometric constraints.
