Framer

Select the design rules based on which parts (such as studs, joists and sheets) are added to layer of a structure.

Add a New Tool for a Layer

A layer may only contain one tool. The type of the layer determines what kind of a tool can be added to the layer. Several types of tools are available for some layer types. If you wish to change the type of a tool, first remove the old tool and then add a new one.

Move the cursor on the empty list.
Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
Select New
Select one of the following (the options are determined by the layer type):
- Framing Tools: Main Frame of a Wall
- Framing Tools: Wall Sheathing
- Framing Tools: Horizontal Battens
- Framing Tools: Frame - Wall Sub Frame
- Framing Tools: Frame - Floor or Ceiling
- Framing Tools: Sheathing
- Framing Tools: Cladding
- Framing Tools: Beam Combiner
- Framing Tools: Pattern Design Tool - Pattern Design Tool is an add-on option of the Vertex BD software.
Select Tool Library.
Select Tool from the list.
Confirm by clicking OK.

Delete a Tool from a Layer

Select a tool from the list.
Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
Select Delete.
Add a new tool or confirm by clicking OK.

Load the Changes Made to the Framing Tool from the Library

You can update the changes made in the framing tool library to the existing structures in the Framing Tools dialog box. Select the framing tool in the upper part of the dialog box, and select either of the following from the right-click menu:

Reload from library - The function loads the parameters from the library while adding any new fields.
Load missing fields from library - The function add new fields from the library, but the old parameters in the structure are not affected.
