Parametric Building Model - Settings

When beginning to design a parametric building model, check that the following settings are enabled:

2D Constraint Manager

When the constraint manager is enabled, the geometric constraints will be solved.

  1. Select > Preferences > Drawings, Models.
  2. Select the Usage tab.
  3. Select 2D Constraint Manager.

The 2D Constraint Manager will remain enabled until you disable it.

Constraint Manager

Constraints and Automatic Sketching

In addition, enable following project-specific settings: The enabled settings are saved when you save the project.

  1. Open the project's document browser.
  2. Open Settings > Design settings.
  3. Double-click Constraints and sketching.
  4. Make the selections in a dialog box.
    • Associative walls. When the setting is enabled, geometric constraints can be added between walls. The setting is on by default, if the project's PARAMETERS file contains the keyword BDASSO "YES". The setting is enabled by default in the template projects included in the basic software delivery.
    • Automatic floors - When the setting is enabled, the program automatically adds a floor based on the closed wall chain in the floor plan. Once you have clicked the points of the wall chain, you can select the floor structure from the floor library. The program will add the floor to its own drawing-model pair.
    • Change Default Material - When you select the automatic floor structure for the first time, the selected structure will be set as the default structure of the drawing-model pair for automatic floors. You can change the default structure by clicking Change Default Material. Select the default structure from the floor library.
    • Automatic rooms - When the setting is enabled, the program will automatically create rooms based on the walls in the floor plan and calculate the floor area.
    • Lock Room Label Position - When the setting is enabled, the room labels remain in place even though the walls limiting the room are moved. When the setting is disabled, the room label is always automatically positioned at the center of the room.
    • Automatic room volumes - When the setting is enabled, the program will automatically create a 3D presentation of each room.
Note:
  • The settings Associative walls, Automatic floors and Automatic rooms may slow down the handling of the model in structural design, especially in the case of a building larger than a detached house. When you start the structural design of a project, it is recommended that you turn off the settings.
  • Automatic fixing of building components in the model is enabled, when the project's PARAMETERS file contains the keyword CONSTROBJ "YES".
