Background Model

Sub Projects

The background model is a feature of the Sub Projects add-on option. The background model can be used to share the selected components of the building as a reference for designers. The background model differs from the actual shared model as follows:
  • Only the selected building components are copied to the background model, in which case its size is smaller than that of a shared model, to which the entire building is copied.
  • Changes made to the main model cannot be updated to the background model.

The components selected for the background model are reference geometry, which cannot be edited, just like in the shared model. Only objects added to the background model will be copied to the main project. You should not make any other changes to the to the background model, as they will not be transferred to the main project.

The processing of the main model and the background model depends on the storage location of the models. The procedure is the same as with the shared model. See instructions here:
