Model as a VXZ File

Sub Projects

It is possible to share the model even if there is no DesignStream system or common project archive on a network server. In this case, the model can be shared to the designer as a compressed file.

Note: When sharing using a compressed file, it must be noted that if there are changes to the main model while the shared model is being worked on by the designer, the changes cannot be updated to the model that the designer has. If the work already done by the designer is to be kept, the designer must deliver the shared model to the main designer, who will update the changes made to the main model to the shared model and deliver it back to the designer as a compressed file.

Main designer

  1. Create a shared model of the main project. Enter the shared model an ID in such a way that it is easy to determine from which main project the shared model was made.
  2. Open the shared model.
  3. Compress the project to a VXZ file.
  4. Send the file to the designer.

Designer

  1. Open the shared model’s project you received. Import the VXZ file into Vertex by using the drag and drop method. The project document browser displays the text (Shared Model) after the project name.
  2. Design. For example, design panels.
  3. Save the project.
  4. Compress the project to a VXZ file.
  5. Send the file to the the main designer.

Main designer

  1. Before opening the designer-supplied shared model’s project, remove the previous version of the shared model from the project archive. There cannot be two projects with the same name in the archive.
  2. Open the shared model provided by the designer.
  3. Save the project.
  4. Open the main model’s project. A dialog box opens where you can choose to update the sub project, i.e. the designer-supplied shared model, to the main project.
