Section View Using a Line

You can add a section view to a model drawing and define its section point with a line. You can also move the section line in the projection.

Add a Section View

  1. Draw a continuous polyline in the drawing projection, in which you want to make a section.

If you select a point of the projection line as the line point, the Coincident constraint is added between the line and point. In this case, the position of the section line cannot change later. If necessary, you can delete the Coincident constraint.

  2. Position the line using geometric constraints on the projection lines so that you can later modify the point of the section by changing the location or length of the line, for example. You can also edit the section line by moving it by its handle.
  3. Select the projection and the context-sensitive function Section.
  4. Select the line you drew. After selecting the line, the direction of the arrow will indicate the part of the model to be shown in the section view.
  5. Define the side of the model to be sectioned as follows:
    • You can change the direction of the arrow by moving the cursor to the other side of the line.
    • Confirm the cut side by Connorma.
  6. Define the projection settings. Projection Settings dialog box
  7. Click OK.
  8. Select a position for the section view in the drawing.
  9. Select Confirm.

Move the Section Line in the Projection

  1. Move the section line in the projection of the drawing by the handles of the line.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Update.
Note:
  • A part will not be displayed sectioned in an assembly drawing's section projection if Section is not made in assembly drawing is selected in the part properties. The part is displayed sectioned in the part-specific drawing's section projection.

Part Properties, see also Section is not made.

  • You can hide the line drawn on the projection after creating the section view.
