Add a Component by Copying

Add components to a library by copying components from another library of the same type, and pasting them into your own library. The library you are copying from can be a standard system library or your own library.

  1. Open the library browser by selecting System | Libraries | Libraries.
  2. In the browser, select a library of the desired type. The library can be a standard system library or your own library.
  3. Select one or more components in the right side browser pane.
  4. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  5. Select Copy.
  6. Select a library of the same type in the Custom Libraries folder.
  7. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  8. Select Paste.
You can also add a new component by selecting Add new item. In this case, the new component does not have predefined parameters.
Note: If the database structures are not the same, you will receive an error message and the component will not be copied. For example, these errors prevent copying:
  • Lengths are not same
  • Missing field in target library
