Protect Parts of a Layer
Framer
When you add parts to a structure, the parts are added or regenerated to all the layers of the structure for which a framing tool has been defined. Changes made to the parts of the layer will be lost when the parts are regenerated. You can prevent regenerating the parts of the layer by protecting them.
Protect the parts of a layer as follows:
- Activate the model window.
- Select the structure.
- Select a layer.
- Do either of the following:
- Select Panel | Framing | Protect Parts.
- Select Plane Structure | Framing | Protect Parts.
When you add parts to a structure, you will see a message regarding any protected layers in the structure. Select one of the following:
- Continue - Parts are not added to the protected layer. Parts previously added to the layer remain the same
- Remove Part Protection - The layer protection is removed and the parts are added.
- Cancel - Cancel the function.
Remove the layer protection as follows:
- Select the structure.
- Select a layer.
- Do either of the following:
- Clear the check box Panel | Framing | Protect Parts.
- Clear the check box Plane Structure | Framing | Protect Parts.
Note:
- An exception to this is the sheathing layer of a wall panel, which is affected by the parameters of the frame's framing tool.
- Protecting parts in a layer does not prevent the editing or the removal of individual parts.
- You can set a single part of a layer to be non-updateable, see Define a Non-updateable Part.
