Editing a Dimension Table in a XML File
You can export the dimension table data of a part or assembly into an XML file. Edit the file in Excel.
Editing the Dimension Table Data
If you define several table IDs at the same time, add them in the XML file.
The data from the dimension table is collected into an XML file.
- Variables and their values are collected from the sketch constraints.
- Variables and their values are collected from the feature constraints.
Do as follows:
- Select the part.
- Select the context-sensitive function Dimension Table.
- Select Export Database.
- Save the XML file.
The dimension table data is opened in Excel.
- Edit the data in Excel and save it.
- Return the data to Vertex with the dimension table function Import Database.
Editing the Dimension Table Data of an Assembly
The data from the dimension table is collected into an XML file.
- Variables and their values of the assembly constraints and local parts are collected.
- The data that is collected for the assembly is used to create an XML file with the same name alongside the VXM file.
- The XML file opens for editing in Excel.
Do as follows:
- For example, select the name of the assembly from the assembly tree.
- Select either of the following:
- Context-sensitive function Dimension Table> Export to XML File.
- Context-sensitive function Dimension Table> Open XML File if the XML file already exists.
- Edit the data in the XML file and save it.
- Refresh the assembly with the F5 key to reflect the variable values in the XML file.
Removing the XML File
- Select the name of the assembly from the assembly tree.
- Select Project Dimension Table> Delete XML File.
