Save a SmartSnap Component to the Component Library

Library

You can save a finished SmartSnap component in a library just like saving a regular library component.

In many cases, it must be possible to define the orientation of an assembly component so that the direction of the Z axis is always vertical. For example stairs, ladders, railings and service platforms. Before saving the component, select Vertical Direction Fixed When Solved in the assembly properties.

  1. Select the Save To Library> As Component function.
  2. If necessary, create a new folder.
  3. Select the folder in which you wish to save the library component.
  4. Enter the file name.

  5. Click Save.
Note:
  • The default component folder is Shared/components, in which you can save your own library components. You must not change the name of this folder. You can create subfolders in this folder by selecting the Create New Folder function in the Windows Save As dialog box. Notice the naming rules.

    Naming

The folder System/components contains sample components. These will be replaced with new ones when the software is updated.

  • SmartSnap component images shown when selecting and adding the component.

You can create these images yourself.

    • When a library component is saved, an image file of the library component is also automatically saved. This image is displayed in the library and the dimension table. The file extension is .bmp.
    • You can create an illustrative image for a SmartSnap component yourself. If this file exists, it is displayed below the model window controlling the positioning when adding a component. The image is fitted in place by the software. The file extension is _help.bmp.
