Edit a Smart Model
Sub Projects
You can edit a smart model in the following ways:
Edit the objects of the smart model in the main project
- Make the changes in the main project. A smart model is a sub project that does not form a closed block like normal sub projects. So you can edit the objects in the smart model in the main project as well.
- You can connect new objects to the smart model.
- Save the changes to the smart model in the main project.
- Update the changes to other smart models with the same ID in the same main project.
In other main projects, the up-to-dateness of the smart model is checked when the project is opened, in which case you can choose to update the model.
Open the smart model project from the main project
- Open the smart model project from the main project.
- Edit the objects selected to the smart model. You should not make any changes to the environment of the smart model, because they will not be transferred to the main project. If necessary, mark the environment of the smart model.
- Save and close the project. The main project opens and the geometry of the smart model automatically updates to all the smart models with the same ID in the main project. In other main projects, the up-to-dateness of the smart model is checked when the project is opened, in which case you can choose to update the model.
Open the smart model project by using the Open Project function
- Open a smart model project from the project archive as usual by using the function > Open Project.
- Edit the objects selected to the smart model. You should not make any changes to the environment of the smart model, because they will not be transferred to the main project. If necessary, mark the environment of the smart model.
- Save and close the project.
- Open the main project. The program checks the up-to-dateness of the sub projects in the main project. In this case, sub projects are smart models.
