Open a Smart Model from the Main Project

Open a smart model from the main project where it has been added.

When your role is a main designer, you can also use this function to open a shared model from the main project from which it was saved.
  1. Select the smart model.
    • Select in the object tree
      1. Set the object tree visible by selecting the Model tab in the left side browser.
      2. Open the branch Smart models.
      3. Select the ID of the smart model.
    • Select in the drawing or model window of the main project
      1. Select one object that belongs to the smart model.
      2. Click the + grip point to select the entire model.

        You can also select this function from the tool strip.
  2. Do either of the following:
    • Click Smart Model | Properties | Open.
    • Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu, and select Open Model for Editing.
  3. If necessary, mark the environment of the smart model.
  4. Make the changes.
  5. Save and close the smart model project.

    The main project opens and the geometry of the smart model automatically updates to all the smart models with the same ID in the main project. In other main projects, the up-to-dateness of the smart model is checked when the project is opened, in which case you can choose to update the model.
