Model a New Part or Subassembly in an Assembly

General

Model a new part or an assembly in the assembly.
  • Save the model to the archive or create a local part of it.

Create a new part or subassembly in an assembly

  1. Select the context-sensitive function New.
  2. Define the document data in the dialog box:
    • Select the document type: Part or Assembly.
    • Enter a name for the document.
    • Create a document to be saved in the archives (a link part) - Confirm the archives as the saving location of the document, and Add to the archives. Fill in the archives data.
  3. Select OK.
  4. Model the part or assembly.
  5. Exit the part or assembly editing view to the assembly
    • Select the function OK, if you want to save the model.
      • The subassembly's thumbnail is updated.
      • The assembly's weight calculation is updated automatically, if you have earlier performed the weight calculation of the assembly.
    • Select the function Exit, if you want to discard the changes you have made to the model.
Note:
  • If necessary, you can hide parts or subassemblies from the assembly that are not required during the modeling of the part. The reference geometry required in modeling a new part is more visible this way.
  • Geometric constraints are automatically created for a new part, when you add a new sketch to a face or a line of a reference geometry as a first phase of the part.
