Add a Text (Annotation) to a Part Model

General

  • You can add reference texts, i.e. annotations, to a part model.
  • You can edit the text
    • Double-click the text or
    • Select the text and the select the context-sensitive function Properties.
  • The texts are displayed only in the model, not in the drawings created from it.
  • If you want to add texts to a drawing, use the function Text (2D).
  • An arrow text is placed at the clicked point, line or surface. You can later change the position of the text by using the grip point on the arrowhead.

Add a Text to a Part Model

  1. Select the function Part | Dimensions | Text.
  2. Enter the text you want to add.
    • If necessary, use superscript or subscript, add special characters, search for text macros or add boxed sections to the text.

  3. Select the text properties.
    • Height.
    • Angle.
    • Scale.
    • Letter spacing.
    • Width.
    • Font
    • Color.
    • Connection
      • Horizontal (XY) plane.
      •  Vertical (XZ) plane.
      • Lateral (YZ) plane.
      • Other, in which case the text is always visible in the drawing plane.
      • Face.
  4. If necessary, select
    • Boxed to display the text inside a rectangle.
    • If necessary, select Has arrow if you want a reference arrow in the text.
  5. Click OK to accept the text.
  6. Click the connection surface.
    • This step only comes if you selected Connection: Face.
  7. Click a location for the point of the reference arrow.
    • This step only comes if you selected Has arrow.
    • Or select Confirm to place the reference line on the origin of the part model.
      • Confirm = V key or middle mouse button.
  8. Click the location of the text.
    • The program opens the dialog box Note Properties.
  9. Repeat steps 2 to 7 to add the next text.
  10. Stop adding texts to the sketch
    • Click Cancel in the dialog box or
    • Press the Esc key.
