Add Dimensions in a 3D Model
General
- With the function, you can add 3D dimensions to the model, which do not work as constraints.
- The dimensions are also not visible in the model drawings, so it limits the utility of the function.
- Dimensions are not visible in the rendered model.
Add dimensions in a model
- Start the function
- In a part model: Part | Dimensions | Dim.
- In an assembly model: Assembly | Dimensions | Dim.
- Select or accept the dimension type.
- Distance (line length or distance between two points).
- Zero point (continuous baseline dimension).
- Angle (angle between two lines or angle between lines defined by four points).
- In this case, the dimension direction cannot be selected.
- Radius (cylindrical surface radius).
- In this case, the dimension direction or projection plane cannot be selected.
- Diameter (cylindrical surface diameter).
- In this case, the dimension direction or projection plane cannot be selected.
- Arc length (arc’s line).
- In this case, the dimension direction or projection plane cannot be selected.
- Select or accept the projection plane on which the dimension is added.
- XY plane.
- XZ plane.
- YZ plane.
- Free (the dimension rotates around the dimension direction).
- Plane surface (click the plane parallel to which the dimension is drawn).
- Plane normal (click the plane whose normal determines the direction the dimension is drawn).
- Select or accept the dimension direction.
- X axis direction.
- Y axis direction.
- Z axis direction.
- Two points (shortest distance between points).
- Direction of line (click the line parallel to which the dimensioning is performed).
- Enter a scale or accept the previous scale.
- Click the elements to be dimensioned.
- Depending on the function, a line, two points or two lines or a cylindrical surface.
- Click the position of the dimension.
- To exit the dimension insertion, close the dialog box by clicking the top-right cross.
Note: When you have finished adding dimensions, delete dimensions by selecting a dimension and pressing the Delete key.
