Add Components Using the Fastener Wizard
The fastener wizard is an assembly tool that speeds up the addition of screw components. Screws are added by clicking the hole and selecting the components, after which the screw component is positioned automatically.
The fastener wizard is used as follows:
- Select the context-sensitive function Add and Fastener with wizard.
- Click the cylinder surface on which the fastener will be placed.
- The origin of the positioning point can be changed with , the position of the screw's z-axis can be redefined with , and the assembling direction of the upper surface of the fastener can be changed with .
- The fastener wizard calculates the length of sequential holes and finds the diameter of the smallest hole.
- When it encounters a rounded hole, the wizard assumes that the sequence is broken. For this reason, you can also specify the hole length manually by clicking Select next to the Connection length field.
- You can select the diameter of the connection manually by clicking Select next to the Hole diameter field.
- Add the components to be used from the library by clicking .
- For more details, see: Add Components to the Fastener Wizard
- After selection, the dialog box asks the fastener type, diameter variable, and length for the component.
- Please note: It is possible to give the components the wrong type or variable, which makes it possible for the wizard to think of the outside diameter as the inside diameter or to suggest a nut as a screw.
- Add a screw from the menu, enter the fit and the length.
- When the menu is empty, try removing the check mark from "Show only fitting".
- When changing the type, thickness or length of the screw, you must first click Reset, after which the fasteners can be added to the screw.
- Add a washer and a nut.
- The connectors are added with , removed with , and the last fastener added is rotated with .
- Please note: Normally, the program will only suggest screws that fit the selected hole (smaller in diameter than the hole and larger in length). However, you can skip this by selecting the "Show only fitting" checkbox at the bottom of the dialog box.
- Press OK to accept the connector set.
- The connection set snaps into place if "Add automatically” was selected. Otherwise, you can position the connector set yourself by using the grip point and constraints.
