Machining Feature

A machining feature is an extrusion or revolution based on a sketch, defined as a tool in the feature properties. The geometry created by the extrusion or revolution can be further modified, for example with a bevel or a rounding.

A machining feature removes material, but geometry that adds material can be added to a machining feature, if necessary. For example, a combined feature can both remove (cutout) and add (boss) material to a sheet. When you save a machining feature to the feature library, you can choose the execution order, meaning whether to remove or add material first.

In an assembly, a machining feature can be used to machine several parts. A machining feature is added to a part, which is saved to the component library. Machine Assembly Parts
