Use of Components of Other Systems

Library

General

  • On the internet, you can find a huge number of different components in different file formats.
  • There are no direct links to these various pages in Vertex G4.
  • You can search the internet for the components you need in STEP, SAT and IGES format.
  • You can add such a file directly to the assembly, or first read it as a model and save the model in the component library.

First, import the file as a model

First, import the file as a model. Process it and save to the library
  • The advantage of this method is that you can check the validity of the imported geometry and you can remove extra parts from it if necessary.
  • This should also be used if you plan to use the component in several assemblies.
  1. Import the file as a model.
  2. Remove any unnecessary parts from the model if the model contains them.
  3. Save the model in the component library.

Import a file directly into an assembly

  • You should use this method if you are adding a one-time component to the assembly and do not want to add it to the library for later use.
  1. In the initial situation, the assembly must be open and active on the Vertex desktop.
  2. Drag and drop a file in another file format into the assembly window.
  3. Select the option Add to active assembly in the dialog box.
