Use of Components of Other Systems
Library
General
- On the internet, you can find a huge number of different components in different file formats.
- There are no direct links to these various pages in Vertex G4.
- You can search the internet for the components you need in STEP, SAT and IGES format.
- You can add such a file directly to the assembly, or first read it as a model and save the model in the component library.
First, import the file as a model
First, import the file as a model. Process it and save to the library
- The advantage of this method is that you can check the validity of the imported geometry and you can remove extra parts from it if necessary.
- This should also be used if you plan to use the component in several assemblies.
- Import the file as a model.
- Remove any unnecessary parts from the model if the model contains them.
- Save the model in the component library.
Import a file directly into an assembly
- You should use this method if you are adding a one-time component to the assembly and do not want to add it to the library for later use.
- In the initial situation, the assembly must be open and active on the Vertex desktop.
- Drag and drop a file in another file format into the assembly window.
- Select the option Add to active assembly in the dialog box.
