Add a Sketch Plane in the 3d Sketch

General

  • You can add sketch planes (auxiliary planes) to the 3D sketch, which you can use as work planes in the 3D sketching.
  • You can rotate the sketch plane in the direction of the main axis before positioning.
  • You can change the location of the connection point of the sketch plane before placing it.
  • You can position the sketch plane with geometric constraints after placement.

Add a sketch plane

  1. Select 3D Sketch | Line Tools | Sketch Plane or
    • Select the context-sensitive function Sketch Plane.

  2. Edit the plane's size and other properties, if necessary.
    1. Select the function Properties from the auxiliary menu.
      • The program opens the dialog box Edit Plane.

    2. Edit the data.
      • Width: The width of the sketch plane. However, this dimension does not limit the sketch area when the sketch plane is selected as the work plane.
      • Height. The height/length of the sketch plane. However, this dimension does not limit the sketch area when the sketch plane is selected as the work plane.
      • Fixed: The plane remains in place and cannot be rotated or moved with constraints.
      • Fixed direction: The direction of the plane remains in place and cannot be rotated.
      • Visible in model: The sketch plane is also visible in the model, and not just in the 3D sketch.
    3. Confirm the data by clicking OK.
  3. If necessary, change the plane's reference point.
    • Select the function Select reference point from the auxiliary menu.
    • Click the reference the point in the opened window.
  4. Rotate the plane around the main axes with the auxiliary menu functions, if necessary.
    • Select the rotation step by selecting 90°, 15° or by entering another angle.
    • Select Rotate around X-/Y-/Z-axis.
  5. Select the plane's position.
  6. You can set the sketch plane as a working plane to which you can add geometry with the line drawing functions.

Use the sketch plane as a work plane for 3D sketching

  • You can set the sketch plane as a working plane to which you can add geometry with the line drawing functions.
  • You can use the function in the Sketch Feature, together with sketch planes, so that the feature is automatically target to the sketching face lines automatically, if the sketching plane is selected when the function is selected.
