3D Polyline
General
- Sketch the polyline chain by clicking the starting point, the points at the points of discontinuity and the ending point.
- Instead of clicking the points of discontinuity and the end point, you can enter their location from the keyboard.
- The program automatically adds a coincidence constraint between the segments of the polylines.
- If you use X-, Y- or Z-locking, the program automatically adds a parallel constraint to the segment with respect to the line of the central cross.
- If you use E-locking, the program automatically adds a parallel constraint to the reference line.
- If you do not select a work plane, the polyline is drawn on the drawing plane, the plane that is currently facing you.
Sketch a polyline in a 3D sketch
- Select the function 3D Sketch | Lines | Polyline or
- select the context-sensitive function Line > Polyline.
- If necessary, select the line properties, under 3D Sketch | Style
- If necessary, select Workplane to sketch a polyline on an auxiliary plane.
- Select the line's start point.
- Select the following points of the polyline.
- You can also use shortcut keys to lock directions:
- U: Locks the direction in the X axis of the model.
- I: Locks the direction in the Y axis of the model.
- O: Locks the direction in the Z axis of the model.
- E: Locks the direction in the direction of the line under the cursor.
- T: Works only if a 3D sketch work plane is selected. Locks the direction in a direction perpendicular to the line under the cursor.
- F: Unlocks the cursor direction.
- Instead of clicking the points, you can enter the relative or absolute coordinates of the points from the keyboard, at the same time the program adds a distance constraint to the line.
Note that you can first lock the direction of the line and then enter the distance.
- You can also use shortcut keys to lock directions:
- Stop sketching this polyline
- Press the V key (V = Confirm) or
- Press the middle mouse button.
- Repeat steps 2 to 5 to continue sketching polylines.
- Stop sketching polylines
- Select another function or
- Press the middle mouse button or
- Press the Esc key or
- Press the V key (V = Confirm).
Sketching polylines on a plane sketch differs in some respects from drawing polylines in 3D sketching.
