Add a Distance Constraint
General
- The function defines the distance between two elements (line, point or surface).
- A distance constraint should not be set between two lines in different directions, as the effect of the constraint remains unclear.
- A distance constraint can be set between two lines bound to the same sketch plane, in which case the program will turn the lines parallel.
- You can also set a distance constraint to a sketch plane (auxiliary plane) added to the 3D sketch or to its lines or points.
Add a distance constraint to a 3D sketch
- Select the function 3D Sketch | Constraints | Distance or
- select the context-sensitive function Constraints > Distance.
- Select the point or the line in the 3D sketch.
- Select the face, line, or the point.
- Click the position of the dimension.
- The program opens the dialog box Edit Constraint.
- Edit the data in the Edit constraint dialog box.
- Edit Constraint.
- At least check the value of the dimension.
- Add a formula, if you want to control the geometry with a dimension table.
- Select OK.
- Repeat steps 2 to 6 to add new distance constraints
- Stop adding distance constraints
- Select another function or
- press the V key or
- press the Esc key or
- click the middle mouse button.
