Select a Hidden Part with the Selection Assistant

  • Selecting parts that are behind or inside other parts is difficult because you cannot click them directly.
  • You can use the selection assistant to select parts at the cursor behind other parts.
  • Previous methods are also available, hiding parts in front (H key), or jumping to the next surface (W key).

Select a Hidden Part with the Selection Assistant

  1. Place the cursor in the assembly where the part to be selected is.
    • The program displays a tip text that tells the name of the part.
  2. Hold the cursor in place for a moment.
    • The program displays the tip text again.
  3. Click the right mouse button (not the selection button).
    • The program opens a list of the assemblies and parts behind the cursor.
    • If you right-clicked as soon as the program first displayed the tip text, the program opens a context-sensitive menu.
  4. Move the cursor in the list to highlight the part or subassembly under the cursor.
  5. Click a part or subassembly in the list to select it.
  6. Continue with the context-sensitive function assigned to the part.
