Save an Assembly Part as a New Part

You can save a part selected from an assembly as a new part (document) in the model archive.

  • Define the new location for saving the document and enter a name for it, unless the program automatically assigns a name to the document.
  • If necessary, you can also replace the part selected to be saved to a new part with another part or leave the assembly unchanged.

Save a part as a new part as follows:

  1. Select a part from the main assembly.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Save as New....
  3. Select one of the following options for the selected part:
    • Don't change link - The part selected from the assembly is not replaced with a new part, the assembly is left unchanged.
    • Replace this - The part selected from the assembly is replaced with the new one. The geometric constraints of the part are retained.
    • Change All instances - All parts in the main assembly with the same name as the selected part are replaced with a new part. Parts with the same name in subassemblies are not replaced.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Define the new saving location of the document, and name the document.
