Note: When you create a new sketch from the ribbon, the sketch plane will automatically be the selected planar face.

From the context-sensitive menu

  1. Select a planar face from the part.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function New SketchFace / Parallel / Angle / Advanced.
  3. If you selected Parallel / Angle / Advanced, fill in the data to the dialog box.
  4. Draw a sketch or read an existing sketch from the sketch library.
  5. Accept the sketch by selecting the context-sensitive function OK or cancel it by selecting the context-sensitive function Exit.
Note: If you select Face, the sketch plane will be the selected planar face. If you select Parallel, Angle or Advanced, you can define the sketch plane by filling in the values for distance and/or angle to the opened dialog box.
Note:
  • The location of the origin point of the sketching face is determined by the origin point of the part model. The origin of the part model will be projected onto the selecting face, where it will be the origin of the sketch. You can define a different origin by clicking a new origin for the grid.
  • When you choose to add a sketch using the Angle or Advanced option, the origin of the sketch will be displayed as the origin of a coordinate system, and you can determine the torsion of the axes.
