New Sketch on a Curved Face

From the ribbon

  1. Select Part | Sketch | To Face or line.
  2. Select a curved face from the part.
  3. Select the sketch fix point.
  4. Draw a sketch or read an existing sketch from the sketch library.
  5. Accept the sketch by selecting OK or cancel it by selecting Exit.

In Context-sensitive Menu

  1. Select a curved face from the part.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function New SketchFace / Parallel / Angle / Advanced.
  3. Select the sketch fix point.
  4. Draw a sketch or read an existing sketch from the sketch library.
  5. Accept the sketch by selecting the context-sensitive function OK or cancel it by selecting the context-sensitive function Exit.
Note:
  • Select any point on the face. This point will become the origin of the sketching face.
  • As you move the cursor on the selected cylindrical, conical, or spherical face, while holding down the Alt key, the value in the Angle field in the dialog box will change. Define the exact angle value in the dialog box. Define two angle values for spherical faces and toroids.
  • If you selected a lofting face, define two relative position values.
  • The location of the origin point of the sketching face is determined by the origin point of the part model. The origin of the part model will be projected onto the selecting face, where it will be the origin of the sketch. You can define a different origin by clicking a new origin for the grid.
