Trim the Edges of Two Sheet Metal Parts in an Assembly

You can indicate the edge pairs to be trimmed from two sheet parts and define the gap between the parts.

You can trim two sheet-metal parts as follows:

  1. Select the context-sensitive function Trim sheet metal parts....
  2. Select the edge line to be trimmed from the sheet-metal part.
    Note: If it is difficult to select edge lines, select searching through surfaces with the W key.
  3. Select the edge line of a second sheet part for trimming.
  4. Fill in the data in the Edge Trim Data dialog box.
  5. Select OK.
Note:
  • You can use the trim function for local and linked parts. The trim feature is added to the parts as an external reference.
  • You can add a trim feature in the part editing mode. Add a trim feature as an external reference by selecting the other edges for trimming from another sheet metal part.
  • By editing the parts, you can also set a welding groove between the sheet parts. Edit Parts with Other Parts - Welding Groove
