Stretch a Local Part in an Assembly

This function can be used to stretch a local part or move a subassembly in an assembly.

Select the points to stretch from the model using area selection.

  • If the part is entirely inside the area, the part is moved.
  • Subassembly entirely inside the area is also moved completely. Otherwise, the selected points will be moved, which will stretch the geometry.
  • Local parts of local subassemblies will stretch. The values of Distance constraint is updated to match the stretch, while other constraints remain unchanged.
  • Local library components cannot be stretched.

In the stretching, to the local part´s feature history is collected a new face Move Points, if the part do not have external references. Local parts with external references are an exception. Such parts will be stretched but no step will be added to their histories.

  1. Select the context-sensitive function Other Functions> Move 3D Points.
  2. Click the corner points of the selection area.
  3. Confirm the area with the Confirm function. (Confirm = V key, middle mouse button or the context-sensitive OK.
  4. Select a reference point in relation to which you want to specify the move.
  5. Select a new location for the reference point.
  6. Confirm or Cancel the stretch.

You cannot undo a stretch.

In the example, a local part is stretched by moving points.
