Add a Tangential Constraint
General
- The tangential constraint should only be added to two selected lines at a time.
- The constraint can also be added to several arcs/circles, but the constraint is not added to "all possible places".
- In sketch geometry, the symbol for the tangential constraint is a small circle .
- You can use the F9 key to show and hide the symbols of the constraints.
Add a tangential constraint in a plane sketch
- Select the function Sketch | Constraints | Add tangential constraint.
- Select the first line.
- This line remains in place unless the other line is locked in place with constraints.
- Select the second line.
- This line moves so that it (or its extension) is tangent to the first line, unless the line is locked in place with constraints.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add new tangential constraints
- Stop adding tangential constraints
- Select another function or
- press the V key or
- press the Esc key or
- click the middle mouse button.
Change the side of a the tangency
If the result was not what you expected, you can change the side of the tangential constraint after defining it.
- Select the tangential constraint from the list.
- The program highlights the lines of the constraint.
- Select the Change side function from the context-sensitive menu.
