Ellipse by Selecting Three Points (3D)
General
- An ellipse is sketched by first clicking the main axis points and then clicking the radius point.
- No automatic coincidence constraints are generated for the ellipse during the sketching phase, even if you click the points of the ellipse from lines or their endpoints.
- You can enter the length of the main axis of the ellipse, and if you lock the cursor in a direction perpendicular to the main axis, you can enter the second radius of the ellipse, in which case the program adds two radius constraints to the ellipse.
- You can dimension an ellipse with two radius constraints.
Sketch an ellipse
- Select Sketch | Lines | Ellipse or
- select the context-sensitive function Circle > Ellipse.
- If necessary, select the line properties, under Sketch | Style
- Click the first point on the ellipse ring.
- Click the second point from the first main axes.
- Click the third point from the ellipse ring.
- Repeat steps 2 to 5 to continue sketching ellipses.
- Stop sketching circles
- Select another function or
- Press the middle mouse button or
- Press the Esc key or
- Press the V key (V = Confirm).
Example
- 1: The first point of the ellipse is clicked.
- 2: The relative coordinate of the second point (50) is entered from the keyboard.
- 3: The cursor is locked from the center of the ellipse in a vertical direction (along the Y axis of the sketch).
- Distance 10 is entered.
