Rounded Rectangle

General

  • Sketch horizontal rectangles with rounded corners by clicking the center point and corner point of the rectangle.
  • The program initially asks for the rounding radius of the corner and draws the roundings in the sketch, if the rectangle is large enough for the roundings to be drawn.
  • If the entered rounding is too large, the program draws a rectangle with sharp corners.
  • With the auxiliary functions, you can get construction lines for the rectangle from corner to corner or from the center of the lines to the center, if necessary.
  • The program automatically adds the necessary coincidence, perpendicular, radius and equal radius constraints between the lines of the rectangle.
  • If you click the center point from the origin of the sketch, the program automatically adds symmetry constraints to the rectangle for the central cross.

Sketch a rounded rectangle

  1. Start the function Sketch | Lines | Rounded Rectangle or
    • select the context-sensitive function Line > Rounded Rectangle.
    • The program opens the dialog box Round.
  2. Enter the rounding radius in the Value field or, if necessary, a formula in the Equation field if you want to control the rounding with a dimension table.
  3. If necessary, select the drawing of construction lines
    • No help lines.
    • Help lines from corner to corner.
      • The helplines of a rounded rectangle are added from the center point of a corner to the opposite center point.
    • Help lines from side to side
  4. If necessary, select the line properties, under Sketch | Style
  5. Select the center point of the rounded rectangle.
  6. Select the corner point of the rounded rectangle.
    • The rectangle is drawn in the horizontal-vertical direction.
    • If necessary, you can enter the distance of the corner from the center using the keyboard with two numbers separated by commas, in which case the program adds two distance constraints to the rectangle.
  7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 to continue sketching rounded rectangles.
    • If you want to change the rounding radius, restart the function or modify the rounding dimension later.
  8. Stop sketching rounded rectangles
    • Select another function or
    • Press the middle mouse button or
    • Press the Esc key or
    • Press the V key (V = Confirm).
